Chamber Annual Celebration 2011
Your Byron Area Chamber of Commerce recently held the 2011 Annual Celebration at Somerby Golf Club in Byron. We had a great turnout of business members and their staff.

The evening consisted a social hour where the food just kept coming and the bar was open if you so desired. Your outgoing President (Bruce Domaille) and new incoming President (Jerry Fischer) hosted the next part of the evening with our awards and our heartfelt thanks going out to our outgoing Executive Board members. They are:

The evening also included a presentation of awards to our Chamber Business of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Those reciepients were:

Capping off the evening was our Keynote speaker, Mr. John Wade.

John's accomplishments include being appointed to the Minnesota Ballpark Authority by Gov. Tim Pawlenty where he served as Commissioner & Treasurer; serving as Vice President for Government & Public Affairs for Bresnan Communications, which was acquired by Charter Communications; dabbling in the car business for a while; spending five years he as a general sales manager for KTTC-TV in Rochester; and in 1996, three years after leaving the station, he became Chief of Staff for then-Rochester Congressman Gil Gutknecht, and later chaired his re-election committee. He has been president of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce since June 2002.

Byron has always been the preferred destination for parents to choose to have their kids attend school. After receiving the 2010 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, the Byron School system and staff are now, more than ever, educational leaders with the backing of National recognition.
